URBAN

PERSONALITY SUMMARY:

When Forrest first meets them, Urban's overall demeanor is the very epitome of “edgy goth teenager.” Rude, aloof, and seemingly unmotivated, they don’t make the best first impression and don’t really seem to care about whether they do or not.

Deep down though, that's really just a facade. Behind this tough front, they are a fairly lonely and apparently "needy" person. "Born" directly into traumatic scenarios, they find it hard to distance themself from the people and behaviors they were introduced to, despite their feelings towards them.

HISTORY

Urban is one of three parts within a Dissociative system, and is the first initial split. They share a body with Markham, inadvertently following him on his adventures. However, Urban is not immediately aware of their status as a protector, and doesn't even fully know they're a separate person! They simply see the world through Markham's eyes, learning and following his actions, while secretly housing any negativity that might form along the way. Without a name, or much knowledge of what they see, they simply drift.

As Urban begins to form into something more concrete, they start to converse with Markham (who views them as his internal monologue). The two of them chat and ponder on the legitimacy of the situations they've been brought into, or the places and people they see. Urban begins to become a bit of a worried, doubtful person - but shoves it largely to the side in favor of doing what's deemed 'right'.

With Markham being their only window to the world, Urban prioritizes his happiness above all things - without even consciously realizing it. This includes taking bullets for him... and changing themself to anything that someone else might want them to be. They view themself as a blank slate, willing to do anything if it will get them the slightest bit of attention. They are submissive, needy, and their denial of their worries begins to shift into an unhealthy sense of self worth and reliance. They latch onto anyone near them, and Markham begins to take a back seat to the world, while Urban acts as a martyr. Without a moral compass to guide either of them, this unhealthy dynamic continues... until it backfires.

Separation from outside sources forces Markham into dormancy, as Urban housed any doubts and memories that he'd once had. Urban is now fully thrust into the realization that they are their own person, and are now forced to live a full life... alone. They struggle without having anyone to hold on to or validate their choices, never truly having an opportunity to learn how to be self sufficient. For the first time, they assign themself a name, and try to learn how to live.

Unfortunately, this doesn't last very long. Urban's attempts prove futile very quickly, as they continually throw themselves into self destructive situations - thinking that it's the right thing to do. They begin to distance themself from the world around them, losing their trust in others, and beginning to truly see the world as an awful place... through all of this, they begin to hate their own weak submissiveness, and put on a tough front as a way to hide it.

Stress of trying to live on their own, losing their only true friend, and continual self destruction results in Forrest's split - and upon realizing another presence is there beside them, Urban vows to never allow a repeat of their past dynamics to happen again. They throw Forrest in position of "host", and hide themselves away in the background - latching onto all memories of their previous scenarios, and never truly letting them go.

It seems like they're going to be hiding for a while... unless someone can pull them out of it.
